DPSG DEHRADUN AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

GRADE VI to XII

1. THEME : Happiness is …….
Capture a moment of true happiness We all know that happiness is a feeling, an emotion that cannot be described but is felt, experienced and lived ….that special moment captured in the simplest of things ; that little flash of joy that is a moment seized , not artificially created and never bought . It could be in the most unobtrusive, unassuming happenings ….the brimming, bubbling, effervescing happiness in relationships, the spontaneous, unplanned, impulsive joy at celebrations, or just quiet contentment, indulgence, pleasure of fully experiencing the world around you …it’s serenity, its tranquility, its beauty !

2. ELIGIBILITY : for school students of Grade VI to Grade XII , Talented Adults & Senior Citizens

3. RULES
As this is a competition for school going students who are under 18 years of age, too, permission of a parent or guardian to enter the competition is mandatory.
All entries MUST be the original exclusive work of the submitting participant and may not include any element that is the copyright of another.
All entries must be submitted in hard copy by post or personally to DPSG DEHRADUN, minimum size A4 size = ( approx 8 “ x 12 " by post or personally.
The Organizers reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify or remove any entry that does not comply with the rules or the spirit of the awards, at any stage of the awards.

By entering the Competition and submitting your photograph(s), you hereby grant the organizers permission to use your photograph(s) for any purpose connected with the Competition.
The Organizers reserve the right to request from the entrant a copy of the original camera file and a screenshot of their editing software showing other images from the same shoot, and to eliminate entries where such a request is ignored or where it is suspected that the rules have been infringed.
It is the responsibility of each entrant (and the entrant's parent or guardian) to ensure that they have read and will abide by these rules, terms and conditions. By submitting an entry, each entrant (and the entrant's parent or guardian) agrees to these rules, that their entry complies with these rules, and that they will be liable to the Promoter and their licensees in respect of any damages or losses incurred as a breach of the rules.
Proof of eligibility must be provided upon request. Use of a false name or other false details will result in disqualification.

5. JUDGING CRITERIA

The entries will be judged for the following:

  • Adherence/Appropriateness to Theme
  • Uniqueness of Concept.
  • Originality ( Original interpretation/ expression of the theme/Innovative Means of Delivering Message )
  • Clarity of Expression.
  • Visual Design/ Visual Appeal / Artistic Merit
  • Composition, Level of Detail, Technical Execution
  • Color, Lighting, Exposure and Focus
  • Audience Appeal; Overall Impression/Impact/ Inspirational Power
  • The Wow! Factor.


5 . AWARDS

Generous cash awards will be awarded to the first 3 best entries in each category . Certificate of recognition will be given to all participants.

The decision of the panel of judges will be final and binding in all matters and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the decisions.

General Rules and Regulations-:

  • The Art Competition is for all 5 categories
  • The Poetry Writing Competition is for Categories 2, 3 & 4
  • The topics are as specified for the category and common to both the contests- Art & Poetry Writing. There is no limit to the number of entries per category, for each contest, from a school.
  • Standardized Paper will be provided for the competition by DPSG DEHRADUN.
  • Participants may use their own sheet for the Poetry Writing Contest .
  • In Category 5 participants have the choice to send larger artwork on canvas using any medium of their choice. Canvas will not be provided.
  • Only ONE individual entry per student.
  • The work submitted must be original.
  • All participants are required to complete the Registration details on the reverse side of the Drawing/ Sheet provided.
  • The Registration details shall be signed by the Parent in categories 1,2,3,4, which shall constitute the consent for participation in the Contest as well as acceptance of the Terms and Conditions set out herein.
  • Incomplete / Unsigned Registration Forms will not be considered.
  • Last day for returning the entries : 30th NOV 2020

Artwork specifications:

The Artwork must reflect a distinct thought process..

Any of the following media or techniques may be used:

  • Paint (watercolor, tempera, poster, acrylic, etc.)
  • Drawing materials (pencil, charcoal, colored chalk, pastels, oil pastels, coloured pencils, markers, etc.)
  • Collage materials (cut and glued papers, such as construction paper, tissue paper, wrapping paper, aluminum foil, etc.)

Poetry Writing Specifications:

  • The poem could be in rhyme or blank verse.
  • The poem could be either in English or Hindi
  • There is no specific limit on the number of words or length.

  • Announcement of Awards : 15 JAN 2021
  • Awards Ceremony: To be intimated

  • The decision of the Judges will be final and indisputable
  • All entries become the property of Organizer and will not be returned.
  • The School holds the right to publish or exhibit the drawings
