At DPSG DEHRADUN promotion of sports activities and physical fitness have been an integral part of the school life , ever since the school started in 2015. Morning warm up with aerobic exercises, zumba, karate and jogging around the campus add excitement to the day ahead. Physical Education lessons are also time- tabled and the students experience a range of activities_summer months of swimming, soccer matchesin the monsoons and cricket mania in winter. Basket ball and volley ball is played round the year.
Students are taught the importance of sports as a physical activity as well as a medium to develop competitive spirit and camaraderie. In addition to physical development and exploration of interests, students learn the thrill of challenge and competition, the importance of concentration, the spirit of teamwork and a sense of accomplishment.
At DPSG-Dehradun, all children participate in sport and each can take part at a level that suits their ability. We offer a wide range of activities: · Swimming, Rifle Shooting, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, · Martial Arts, · Football, · Skating, · Athletics, Yoga, Badminton, Cricket, Table Tennis along with a range of indoor games.
YOGA
Yoga’s innate ability to stop the mental clutter of thoughts and live in the moment reduces stress and anxiety, showing profound benefits in every sphere of life. Students are very stressed individuals, keen to outperform themselves and prove their worth every chance they get.
Yoga as a part of the sports curriculum helps improve Memory and Attention Span, manage weight, improve flexibility, balance and posture. It teaches correct breathing techniques, promotes mindfulness, encourages self-care, brings peace of mind, self-control and reduces absences and violence in school. Improves Self-Control .reduces absences and violence In School.
The school has indoor halls where students spread yoga mats to practice . The large green open spaces too are also suitable venues to perm yoga.

MARTIAL ARTS
While martial arts are very inspiring for young students giving them a sense of power , they also experience increased confidence. As it is a full body work out, they enhance their flexibility, body parts coordination, self-defense skills, and improves focus and concentration and social skills.
Students learn Taekwondo and Karate and through the sport learn courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit.
The students have been participating inter school events and at the State level.

Persistence is the quality of winners and the students of DPSG DEHRADUN have proved that by bringing laurels to our school in ‘Sports For All’ (SFA) Uttarakhand Championship 2022. Shwetank Guleria, Anubhav Malik and Aryan Singh Chauhan stood 1st and bagged gold medals in Karate. Rudransh Rawal, Harshit Pathania, Kartikey Bisht and Anirudh Gusain stood 2nd and bagged silver medals while Vansh Nigam and Parth Walia held on to the 3rd position and won bronze medals, constituting an appreciable number of 10 medals in Karate. Navneet Joshi and Ishaan Sharma bagged silver medals in Badminton in Under –19 category. Prajwal Chettri won Bronze medal in 200 metres race. Our ace shooter, Tejasvi Verma won bronze in 10 Metre Air Pistol. Our basketball team of Under-14 girls and Under -18 boys won the bronze medal whereas in the Under 18 girls and Under 14 boys category our enthusiasts bagged silver.
The vigorous and determined effort the school, under the able guidance of our Principal Mrs. Arundhati Shukla was greatly appreciated .
SWIMMING
Swimming is the highlight of the school day in the summer months at DPSG DEHRADUN. The physical benefits of swimming are well known , such as the full-body cardiovascular and respiratory workout that it provides. It develops a child's stamina, flexibility and muscle strength and also builds their concentration and coordination . Teaching children to swim also makes them learn about water safety, to assess safe and dangerous situations and how to react in emergencies. Being able to swim improves the chances of survival, saves lives and can reduce drowning cases in this country.

ATHLETICS
The school facilitates a group of sporting events that involve competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and race walking. Athletics help build Strength, Power, Endurance, Speed, Coordination, Flexibility.,Agility, balance and address the psychomotor domain directly.
Infrastructure
The School has a multipurpose track that allows for multiple sports for sprint, marathon, hurdles, long jump, relay races.
The School grounds also provide for discus circles, javelin throw and has a long and high jump. Installing things like this can really encourage children to try out new activities and possibly spark an interest in a new event which they previously didn’t know any information about beforehand.
FOOTBALL
A Monsoon sport played with enthusiasm by the boys and the girls alike.
The school can boast of a standard size football ground that is an envy of most schools in the city that have no space for sports.
CRICKET
A Sport played with uncontrollable fervor and zest by our students , like every child in India, where the teams work endlessly to score maximum runs and each child aspires to taken unaccounted number of wickets has slowly seen itself establish at DPSG DEHRADUN. Still nascent in its evolution the sport enjoys popularity amongst both boys and girls.
The School has a Cricket Pitch and has been hosting matches. Students also get an opportunity to practice at the cricket nets.
RIFLE SHOOTING
A sport that instills hand eye coordination, self-confidence and self-esteem of course, carries over into a student's general school work and social behaviour. All students are given an opportunity to try the sport and discover for themselves if they have the acumen or interest to pursue it.
The School has a basic shooting range ,currently, but with the proposed sports complex scheduled to come up in a year’s time, the students would enjoy a state of the art facility.
BASKET BALL
A game of precision and coordination , the sport has several enthusiasts looking forward top every opportunity they get to play it.
The School has two basket ball Courts ,side by side and the school team has gradually been formed to a noticeable standard as the school has grown.
TABLE TENNIS
Table Tennis is a leisurely indoor sport enjoyed by the students at DPSG DEHRADUN , particularly in the wet months. The sport comes with its own benefits as it improves hand-eye coordination ,balance, improves reflexes, develops mental acuity, is easy on the joints , stimulates mental alertness, concentration and tactical strategy coordination and fights stress.
The school has an indoor facility with two table tennis tables .
CHESS
The opportunity to play Chess is given to students who enjoy games that engages them mentally. . Chess raises children’s IQ, increases problem-solving skills , improves memory and exercises both sides of the brain, it increases creativity and improves the concentration your child. Ours students have participated in the sport at inter school level .
This facility is provided to the students in an indoor sports recreation room in the school building
