However, with the growing population and urbanization, this greenery is depleting and cities are getting transformed into concrete jungles. We all know how highly polluted these cities are these days. And most of the pollution comes from industries and vehicles. Industries produce air pollution in the form of untreated smoke that has many hazardous gases in it. These industries also discharge thousands of liters of toxic untreated effluents into the rivers, because of which the air and water of the city have become highly toxic, leading to many health complications.

There is an urgent need to preserve existing greenery as well as grow new plants for the existence of human beings on this planet. Some of the merits of greenery in the modern life are summarized below:

  • Greenery absorbs the polluted air and provides freshness and purity in the air which is very good for our lungs.
  • It is also considered to have a good effect on everyone’s eyesight.source-google
  • It also provides a feel of the nature that exists beyond the city life.
  • A leisure walk in the greenery has the power to alleviate our stress and helps us to relax.
  • It also helps in reversing the effects of the global warming which is prevalent all around the world.
  • Planting trees also help to prevent soil erosion as the roots of the trees hold the fertile soil tightly even in case of floods or other natural disasters.
  • The green trees also attract the clouds and play a major role in ground water resource management as well as helps in bringing rainfall.

Thus, preserving greenery and our natural resources is must for our existence on this planet and also adopting eco-friendly ways of life.
