PUPPETRY WORKSHOP : GRADE 4
Puppets have always fascinated children. Puppetry is the closest thing you can get to animation, live, in the real world. Young learners of Grade 4 at DPSG enjoyed interactive puppet-making workshop in the school campus on 02 May 2022. The workshop ‘Eye for Craft’ was organized in association with ¬Delhi Crafts Council. Participants became puppet makers and puppeteers as they designed beautiful puppets. Puppets unlock doors to the mind and heart as one finds enormous variety, ingenuity, and creativity in the types of puppets, and the ways they are used. Puppets are very effective aids for fostering cooperation, enhancing creativity, and improving communication. Handling and manipulating puppets help a child develop gross and fine motor skills.
The workshop helped the children unleash their creative spark and helped them understand the importance of keeping this age old art alive.

On the occasion of international Labour day, to honour the persistence and dedication of our selfless support staff , we at DPSG honoured their tireless efforts by arranging refreshments and distributing flowers and chocolates to the entire helper community. To forge a better understanding of the labour community among students who must learn to respect and appreciate their efforts, students of Junior Wing at DPSG also prepared thank you cards with beautiful messages.

Reading Engagement : Primary Wing
Children who read often become better learners, which leads to success in school and other areas of life. Reading is the foundation of learning, which motivates students to read books independently, develops creativity, critical thinking, vocabulary and the ability to express both verbally and in writing. It helps children to relate to their surroundings and real life situation. Thus, there is a need to create an enabling environment in which students read for pleasure and develop their skills through a process that is enjoyable and sustainable and which remains with them for life.
Students from Grades 3 to 5 dressed up as their favourite writer/ poet and read a story/poem of that character to the class.

Inventing our own Number System
Through the ages people have invented many different ways to name, write, and compute with numbers. Our current number system is based on place values corresponding to powers of ten. The PYP learners of grade 5 have developed their own number systems. In a student led inquiry on larger numbers they invented the number systems with different bases. The learners showcased exemplary level of the mathematical proficiency. They not only exhibited their conceptual understanding and procedural fluency but strategic planning to a great extent too.
Siddharth Singh and Avika Dua of Grade 5C have developed a “Special characters” number system with a base 6 where they have used all the special characters. Kartik Singh of Grade 5K has developed a “Square Dot “number system with base 5. Sanvi Garg of 5E is also working on her number system with base 6. They will be implementing and checking the feasibility of their number systems in the inquiry on basic operations soon. The counting, expanded notation and the place value chart of their number system are bound to take us to a world of creative and critical thinking.
