Education in the current times is viewed as acquisition of skills and competencies than gathering knowledge only. The school organises a variety of activities and events that impart skills that can form the basis for a fulfilling career and purposeful life later on. It is with this purpose in mind that a plethora of opportunities in various fields such as art and craft, photography, music, dance, drama, sculpture, taekwondo, yoga, sports, fitness and the ICT etc. are offered within and beyond school. The students are encouraged to be original, creative, analytical and expressive. The interhouse, intraschool, interschool activities are a regular feature of the school calendar. The students are trained and encouraged to participate in national and international events from time to time.
Career Counselling Session for classes XI and XII

DPSGI has been conducting very enriching, informative and interactive career counselling sessions throughout the year in a constant endeavour to guide and support children in making the right career choices, particularly in today’s time when career options are burgeoning.
The school conducted a very interactive and empowering Career Counselling Session on Thursday 5 August,2021 in collaboration with Mindler for the students of classes XI and XII. A warm welcome was extended to the resource person Mr Prikshit Dhanda, an alumnus of Harvard University and a motivational speaker and life coach. Mr Dhanda had a very vibrant interaction with the students wherein he emphasised on the importance of having clarity on Plan A and Plan B as far as career choices are concerned. He also listed the other parameters which students need to focus on e.g., Undergraduate Courses available, eligibility and selection process, preparation, resources and preparation material available, curriculum, schedule and time management along with preparation for Board Exams and Entrance exams.
In course of the session, he asked many questions and the students were very prompt in answering them. Next, he gave a comprehensive presentation of the Mindler platform and highlighted some of the features e.g., Planning Tools, Automated Career Road Map Tool, Real Time Update on Exams and Scholarships. He urged the students to take the Mindler Assessment so that students could be counselled on the desired career path.

ENGLISH SUBJECT WEEK (2021-22)

DPSGI firmly believes that true progress can only be made through an unquenchable thirst for knowledge teeming with curiosity, creativity and passion. The school organized the English Language Week from 19-23 July, 2021 in the online mode to provide opportunities for students to showcase their linguistic prowess and enable them to unleash their creativity.
A plethora of Inter Class competitions were organized which include Jingle Presentation for students of class VI on the theme ‘Mother Nature’, ‘Dialogue Composition and Presentation’ for class VII, ‘Weave a Story’ for class VIII, Extempore competition for classes IX and X and ‘Twist a Tale’ for class XII. To encourage healthy competition and a sense of belongingness to the respective houses, a number of Inter- House Competitions were held. Students of classes VI-VIII Children participated in ‘Twist a Tale’ where they gave very interesting and innovative endings to stories. Students of classes IX-X indulged in the war of words in the Inter-House Debate Competition on the topic ‘English Education- A Must for Global Success.’ Students of classes XI-XII enacted the roles of interesting Literary Characters with costumes, props and ingenious backdrops for the ‘Role Play’ competition.
Overall, the students participated in an array of competitions that strengthened their Literacy skills and tapped into their creativity and ingenuity. The students participated with remarkable energy and enthusiasm.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY

DPSGI celebrated the Investiture Ceremony of the newly appointed Prefectorial Board on 17 July, 2021 in the online mode. The solemn and joyous occasion commenced with a warm welcome extended to the Chief Guest Mr Anshul Pathak, honorable Vice-Chairman and Treasurer, DPSG Society and Chairman, DPSGI who presided over the function , the Guest of Honour Dr Jitendra Nagpal, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist& In charge, Institute of Mental Health& Life Skills Promotion, Moolchand Medicity, New Delhi, Program Director, Expressions India and an accomplished alumnus of the school Mr Sarthak Upadhaya and the esteemed parents.
Ms Meera Mathur, Principal, DPSGI addressed the audience with her inspirational words that ensue from deep knowledge and profound commitment. Her words packed with motivation, wisdom and enthusiasm deeply moved all the listeners. Mr Anshul Pathak congratulated the young leaders and emphasized how the pandemic in spite of all the challenges it has unleashed, has also taught us so much. He reiterated on the unique vision of the school wherein an entire curriculum CD-2020 has been researched upon and designed to make learning Student Led and Enquiry Based. He congratulated the teachers as the real heroes. The motivational song, sung by the students, reiterating the role of will power and determination in scaling heights, set the tone for the morning.
Dr Jitendra Nagpal congratulated all the Student Council appointees and stressed on the fact how the day was meant to celebrate leadership. He emphasized how qualities like compassion, gratitude, caring should be nurtured by leaders so that each one of them can emerge as leaders in the 21 century and take on the world.
A mesmerizing dance performance invoking the blessings of Siddhidata Lord Ganesha was followed by the oath taking ceremony wherein the Principal administered the oath to the 78 proud office bearers and heartily congratulated and blessed them. This was followed by the announcements for various posts for the session 21-22.
It was an ecstatic day for the Prefectorial Board members wherein they were entrusted with the noble and serious responsibility of leading the student community and serving the school with utmost commitment. Parents of the newly appointed team had profound words of praise for the school. Mr Vikas

Fraheen Hyder mother of Aliza Asif, Captain and President, Student Council complimented the efforts by the school by stating “DPSGI has given my child ample opportunities to grow, polish her skills and outshine in every situation. Despite the pandemic crisis the school made sure that students and their parents feel proud in an online ceremony. I am glad to have my child in the school which has an inspiring futuristic visions.”

DPSGI HOSTED THE SECOND PARYAVARAN PANCHAYAT-- A GREEN INITIATIVE WITH THE MOTTO ‘WE CARE’

The mission of a green and clean Earth inspired the Student Council and the Dexterous Hands Club to organize the first Paryavaran Panchayat in school in 2019-20 where 25 schools had participated. This second edition, a Virtual Panel Discussion on ‘Learning Sustainability from Nature’ was an effort to bring all the stakeholders together on the same platform to deliberate on the urgent need of conservation and concern for nature. Renowned leaders, scientists, environmentalists and educationists were a part of the discussion.

Everyone agreed that it is our shared responsibility to strike a balance between our short-term and long-term interests to leave behind a clean and beautiful home for our children. We are only the ephemeral guardians of this treasure-trove, whose future guardians are waiting.


University Fest

DPSGI has been one of the stalwarts in Comprehensive Career Counselling and Orientation Programmes for students and parents over the years. The school believes in providing not only the best learning environment but also a perfect roadmap to choose the career of a life time. Under the able guidance of the school Principal Ms Meera Mathur, the school has been organising Education Fairs every year to apprise the student community about the list of top foreign universities and universities across the nation, the programmes available, the eligibility criteria for diverse courses, application process, scholarships available and the list is endless. Such programmes have received wide appreciation from the students and the parent community and have featured as a much-awaited event in the school calendar.
Bringing in the true spirit of internationalism, DPSGI in collaboration with Campus Coach, an exclusive Career and University Orientation Programme for school students organised an exclusive Online Orientation Programme ‘The Career and University Fest Season 3’ on 25 May,2021.
Ms Meera Mathur inaugurated the session with a profound quote ‘There is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon’ and reiterated the significance of endlessly changing horizons in order to shape a beautiful life and a better world. She set the tone of the enriching session by emphasising on how students need to explore the the limitless possibilities of life by being mindful and focussed and she extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest for the day Mr Gaurav Yadav, Quizmaster, International Award Winner, Founder and CEO, Edu Ace Services, Founder and Moderator, Indian Principal’s Network. Ms Paramjeet Kaur, National Head- Campus Coach, Edu Ace Services Pvt Ltd and Ms Vijeta Valsan, Counsellor, campus Coach, and a professional with more than 22 years of experience were also given a warm welcome along with distinguished representatives and speakers from various universities.
Mr Gaurav with his dynamic persona left an indelible mark on the listeners when he stated how academic performance is often overrated and how PHD Passion to Perform, Hunger or Appetite to learn more, Drive to live one’s dreams and aspirations) is all that is necessary to achieve the best in life. He shared some invaluable guidelines with students to make the best out of the opportunities they are getting.
This was followed by Ms Paramjeet moderating the session wherein she invited the representatives from the different universities, one followed by the other. The representatives from the various universities were Ms Meenu Arora from Krea University, Ms Neha Verma Verma from Flame University, Ms Deepali Shah from Foot Hill and Denza Colleges California, US, Mr Shailendra Singh from OP Jindal University, Dr PGK Mahe from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Ms Tanvi Dhingra from Global University System (Pearl/UPES) and Ms Jaikishen from Indian School of Hospitality. The common spectrum shared by the representatives through very comprehensive presentations were about details of the university in terms of its rank, USP, location, academic programmes offered, eligibility criteria for different programmes, the world class faculty associated with the organisation, the prestigious alumni, Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary approaches practised, kinds of scholarships available, the eligibility criteria for getting scholarships and career counselling and placement facilities available.
The mesmerising session and interaction followed by the question answer session, was so captivating that students started putting across a volley of questions well beyond the given time. DPSGI definitely had definitely raised the bar wherein students were equipped to make informed career choices in sync with their aptitudes and skills keeping in mind the needs of the 21st century. The Principal appreciated the invaluable information shared by the experts and the interest shown by students in participating in this one- of- its kind event. She encouraged the students to keep up their zeal, make use of all opportunities being made available by the school and live their dreams and aspirations with determination and hard work

Strategic Planning and Road Map Ahead

DPSGI has been persistently conducting very enriching, informative and interactive career guidance and counselling sessions right from the onset of the new session in an earnest endeavour to guide and support children, to keep up their upbeat spirit in these uncertain times and help them understand and act on what they ought to act upon.


The school conducted a very informative and empowering session on the topic ‘Strategic Planning and Road Map Ahead’ on 26 May, 2021 for the students of class XII. The session was conducted by Mr. Prikshit Dhanda an alumnus from Harvard University and the Chief Strategy officer and renowned life & Career Coach at Mindler. To begin with a warm welcome was extended to the Resource Person and Ms Vaishnavi- a representative from Mindler.


Mr Dhanda initiated the much-needed interaction by wanting to know from students on Four to Five things they feel they are supposed to accomplish this year. Based on very interesting inputs shared by students, very systematically, he dwelt upon four crucial areas they need to focus and work upon immediately. He elaborated on how absolute clarity in Goal Setting is the crux of the whole matter. Breaking this idea into parts, he emphasised on how students need to ensure that they get admission in good colleges and institutions of their choice next year, they must secure good marks in their CBSE Board Examination, they will have to crack the Entrance Exams as applicable, they need to successfully clear the Aptitude Tests and be ready with their Profile Analysis for Profile Based admission.


With razor sharp precision he detailed upon the strategies children should use to accomplish these goals. The highlights were, the importance of taking Internal Examination conducted by the school seriously and performing well in them, time management in preparing for Entrance Exams vs CBSE Board Examination, clarity on the path to be taken for preparations and college admissions, strategies to strike the right balance between CBSE and Entrance exams and ways to ensure Physical, Mental and Emotional well-being of students.


He guided the students to take the Career Assessment offered by Mindler before 30 June, 2021 and utilize each and every feature offered by Mindler be it Entrance Exam Tracker, Scholarship and Financial Aid or online Practice Material available. This was followed by a very vibrant Question- Answer session wherein the queries put up by the students were comprehensively answered by Ms Dhanda.


The session ended with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms Nidhi Narayan, Senior Co-Ordinator.


Career Counselling Session by Mindler


The world may be fraught with unprecedented consequences due to the pandemic but DPSGI has been relentlessly supporting, guiding, empowering and creating best of opportunities for its students so that they can tide over these trying times and emerge as champions in the times to come. Regular Career Counselling sessions by the best of Resource persons in Mindler have gone a long way in helping students make informed career choices, deciding on strategies to follow their dreams and most importantly in exploring their innate strengths and building on them persistently.


Keeping in mind the needs of students of class XII (2020-21), whose CBSE Board exam and other national level entrance exams got postponed, the school conducted an invaluable session titled ‘How to utilise the next few months’ on 19 May’21 at 11 am in the online mode. Mr Prikshit Dhanda, a leading Life Coach and Motivational Speaker, professionally trained by Harvard University was the resource person. Ms Vaishnavi Chadda also a professional from Mindler was a part of the session.


The session commenced with a warm welcome extended by the school Principal Ms Meera Mathur to the Resource persons and the students. She emphasized on how difficult the year has been for all students but particularly for this batch it being the last year of their schooling where life had to be all happening and vibrant in the lush green school play fields and classrooms. The school has done a commendable job in keeping them motivated and yet it is time again to dust off the cobwebs and get going in these critical times since the most crucial task for them to get the best of admissions to colleges still remains.
