Keep a journal to yourself, mentioning the words you discover every now and then. Keep running back to the list, so that slowly you start remembering the words to yourself, and start using them appropriately in your regular conversation. When you look back at the journal with all the words written on them, it will only make you feel proud about the words that you have learned so far.

How exciting it sounds when you learn a new word, a new day? Use a calendar or notebook, and mention the date and the word that you learned that day. Do mention the meaning as well of the word for yourself. It helps in remembering the word better.

Finding the roots of the words are one of the most important and powerful ways to learn a new word. Grab yourself a dictionary and randomly pick a word or the family of the word, and learn more about its origin and how it is spelled and pronounced.

There are a number of games available which helps in building vocabulary. Word games are a big challenge. They help in finding new words, and their meaning, increasing the words in your vocab lists. Play solving the scrambled words or a boggle to learn more and have fun too.

Engage

Engage in a conversation. Make friends with people who are an eager learner. Be around people who are proficient with the language. Simply talking to people who have good command over the language will help you build your vocabulary. The more you engage yourself, the better your vocab will be.
