Delhi Public School Ghaziabad hosted an Inter School Mega Event SANGAM- A Multitude of Languages 2019-20 Competition-cum-Fest on May 4, 2019. Twelve schools from Ghaziabad participated in different competitions held in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Spanish and Sanskrit. Various events like Ramp walk (Sub- Junior Group), Umbrella Painting (Junior Group) and Quiz Competition (Senior Group) were held. The competition for Sanskrit language was Ramp walk for Sub- Junior Group and Shlok Gayan for the remaining 2 categories. The competitions highlighted the efforts made by each school which was evident in the quality of presentations and participation of students. This event provided an opportunity to the students to explore and unleash their latent talents.

The Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Society was conceived, founded and promoted by Mr. Om Pathak, IAS, the then District Magistrate of Ghaziabad with support from Delhi Public School Society presided over by Sh. Dharamvira, ICS and Lt. Colonel (Retd.) Dr. GPS Waraich, the then Principal of DPS, Mathura Road, New Delhi. Sh. Dharamvira, President of the Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi and Col. Sadhu Singh who were first President and Secretary respectively of the Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Society. The DPSG Society is currently chaired by Mr. Om Pathak.

The people preferred staying with the family feeling safe and secure, as the world was ingested by the deadly virus the Corona Virus or COVID-19.The age of pandemic when the schools, offices, institutions, malls, shops closed and the only hope was to be alive. In these times of distress, few brave-hearted soldiers refused to sit and standstill taking the figure of giant Avatar and worked day and night. We call them corona warriors or just doctors, nurses, police, bank employees, army, community helpers, or just teachers. The DPSG students took a step forward to thank them and presented their messages in the form of posters and presentations. The emotions were quite evident. The love crossed the boundaries of time and place and moved to the virtual set up. A big salute for them, from or side.

    Christmas celebration is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. The festival reminds us that there has to be at least one day of the year to recap us that we are here for something else besides ourselves.To celebrate this season of joy, our students from the Primary Wing participated in various activities with full enthusiasm and gaiety. Our little kids from playgroup, grade 1 and grade 2 participated in “Santa Mask Making”, “Reindeer Craft”, and “Santa Cap Paper Craft” making activity. Any Christmas celebration is incomplete without the presence of a Christmas tree and a snow man as it waves a magic wand over this world. To commemorate this thought students from Grade 3, 4 and 5 participated in paper folding snowman, Christmas tree paper cutting craft and greetings card making activities respectively.

It has great diversity regarding clothing. Traditional clothing in India differs with region, religion, and community. It is dependent on various things like their ethnicity, geography, climate, and cultural traditions of the people of each region. Indian dressing styles can be made distinct by many variations and a wide range of traditional Indian clothing which includes sarees, salwar kameez, and Ghagra Choli. Folk outfits are best to know the traditional clothes and attires of Indian states. Children of Grade III dressed up as people of various states of India and explained about their traditional dresses in the class activity. They entertained everyone on the online platform with their colorful outfits. A wide mix of Indian traditional clothing from different states can be seen through the pictures. Traditional dresses of India are dependent on various things like their ethnicity, geography, climate, and cultural traditions of the people of each region. The students represented the states of Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Rajasthan, Gujarat.

Through this activity, the students were able to brainstorm and discuss how human activities have damaged Mother Earth which has lead to climate changes that are ultimately causing an imbalance in the ecosystem. Through this activity, they were also able to understand the interrelation between different species and organisms in the environment and also the need to coexist mutually.

The students were given instructions for drawing a picture without telling them the object that they are drawing. The judges for the event were Ms. Akansha Thapliyal and Ms.Seema Nagar. 34 schools from Gurgaon and NCR participated in the event.   The speakers had to present their views on the theme ‘Acceptance ToThe New Normal’ or ‘Opportunity during this Adversity’.  Prapti Singh of Class X from our school participated in the event and presented her ideas and perspectives on ‘Opportunity during this Adversity’ very confidently giving it a practical approach. The results for the competition will be declared on 14th August, 2020.
