Social media has become extremely popular these days because of its user-friendly features. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and others are giving people a chance to connect with each other across distances.

The youth is the most dominant user of social media. If the use of social media is not monitored, the consequences can be grave. It is harmful as it invades one’s privacy. The oversharing happening on social media makes it a target for predators and hackers. It also leads to crimes like cyberbullying and Hacking which are affecting the youth significantly.

Addiction of social media is quite common amongst the young generation. This addiction leads to bad grades in studies. Because of social media, many students who were excellent students have become dull. People who are addicted to social media live a life far away from reality. They do not have time for outdoor activities such as playing sports or camping. Instead of going out to meet friends or talk to their parents, they just love to chat with friends on social media.

Social media also creates communal rifts. Fake news is spread through it, which poisons the minds of citizens. Using social media too much can cause serious impact on health. Because the young are addicted to social media, they go to bed late to read the posts on Facebook or chat with friends. Staying up late can be really harmful to the health.

At last, I would like to sum up my words with the thought that children must create a balance between their academic performances, physical activities, and social media. Excess use of anything is harmful and the same thing applies to everything that we do in our day to day life. Therefore, we must try to live a satisfying life with the right balance.
