THE REASON TO READ

“Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift.” rightly said by Kate DiCamillo. As often, in today’s generation reading books is seen more as a burden. Reading books, to most children, seems as if it is the most soulless task in the world! But are we all aware of the magic behind it? Obviously, no. There are many bewildering benefits of reading books. Let us say you had a really bad day, reading even a few of the pages of a good book would indeed calm your nerves, hence acting as a mood lifter. Another vital role of reading skills in communication is perfecting your oratory skills. Reading teaches you advanced words and perspectives. It helps strengthen language and sharpens sentence structure. It gives you a better command of the language. The more knowledge you have, the better equipped you are to tackle any challenge you will ever face, that’s the reason reading books becomes handy.  One of the biggest advantages of reading books is that books guide every person. Shows a person a good way to live life. As we all know that no one is immortal on this earth. One who has come must go one day. But books! Those are immortal. They can never end.

1. Chandrashekhar Kambara is an Indian poet, playwright, folklorist, and film director in Kannada language.

2. Imran Shah is an Assamese writer, poet, novelist, and scholar. His ‘Jaban Bandi’ is one of the famous novels

3. Mangal Singh Hazowary is an Indian Bodo language poet. He is also a recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award for his poetry “Ziuni Mwkthang Bisombi Arw Aroj”and many more!

I would also like to tell you that our fellow DPSGVITES are also wonderful authors! Yes, you read that correctly. Gayatri Jha, a student from class 9th B has recently published a book named ‘The First Fiver’ which is a series of stories which are interrelated to each other. This thriller book consists of suspense, horror, action, friendship and love. Also, we have Muskan Dewan from class 11th who published a book where there are several short poems With reading it is obvious that you can gain more self-confidence and can express yourself fluently in both written as well as verbally. Books benefit in improving performance and way of thinking to a great extent. When you start reading and analyzing things, your focus and concentration automatically increases. It gives you inner peace. While reading, you start connecting with yourself and know your perspective more clearly. Reading books can help you to be a better person in every way.
