3 Books You Must Read Before You Turn 18

BY ADMIN PUBLISHED November 4, 2017, UPDATED January 18, 2023

How many hours do you spend on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and then there is YouTube as well? Oh, and with Digi TV in trend, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hot Star are also there to entertain us with rich content.

Being a movie buff myself, I used to always recommend movies over books. Any day! However, soon I realized I was not gaining any literary benefits the way I did when I read an interesting book. These days, all of us are glued to our phone or laptop/PC, that we seldom pick a book to read in our free time. Trust me, this is coming from my own personal experience. The lust for book reading is fading away. The trend of love for reading something extraordinary, and recommending it to our set of friends is dying.

We are not saying to stop watching films, completely. Or refrain from using your phone. Let us tone down the consumption of the digital life. It is about time to get into a great habit of picking up something good from the bookshelf and sit back, and read while enjoying a cup of coffee or warm ginger tea, or perhaps hot milk. Sigh!

Here is the list of best 3 books I always recommend students between the age 13-20 years.

Harry Potter Series

Come on! I will judge you wholeheartedly if you say, ‘we have already watched the film series, and we absolutely love it to the core.’ You can’t say this. Any person who says that is not a hardcore Harry Potter fan.
The book is what you need to read to really say that you are completely taken away with the charismatic life of wizardry and witchcraft and spell and magic. The book has a symmetrical plot structure which not only keeps you engaged but creates a thrust to know more and what. If you are proficient with English literature, you will know the many references to other works of literature. It is a smooth read and doesn’t need a lot of effort to understand the context of the storyline.

And more importantly, once you start, you don’t know how to stop. Believe me!

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

This is a book I cherish for life. I read this book when I was a 16 years old. A highly recommended book for teens, this book is a perfect example of a child becoming an adolescent and life is happening to him/her. Being a huge fan of Stephen Chbosky and his writing, trust me when I say this is the best book that you will read at this age, I mean that literally.

Why this book?

It talks about life, love, friendship, acceptance, and adulting. A pretty much what we are feeling when we are in our peak teen phase. This is a book which gets you overwhelmed. It helps you manage the most important phase of your life, in the most beautiful manner.

The writing is so beautiful and relatable, that you will end up crying bucketful, wondering why it had to end. Each page contains a quote and the best part, the entire book is written in a ‘letter to someone’ format. This gives even more of a reason to read the book and just read it in one go.

Tuesdays With Morrie

One of the fantastic read which I will recommend to all age people. This is a book which I have an emotional bond with. It is a book about a teacher, a student, their conversation, life and valuable lessons learned. It is a book which talks about anything and everything in just a few Tuesdays, a student spent with the teacher before he dies.

Tuesdays with Morrie teaches one of the most valuable and precious life lessons which you will never want to take for granted. The best part of the book is not even for a single time you will feel you are reading the book, rather you will feel the presence of both the character. You will feel the deep conversation between the two, and you will nod your head every time you agree.

Again, each page of the book contains a life strengthening quotes which will let you keep the book down for a minute and self-introspect about the same.

So, there was a list mentioning my top favorite book of all time. I hope these books change your life the same way it did for me.
