Go Green- No Plastic!!

BY ADMIN PUBLISHED August 26, 2022, UPDATED January 9, 2023

Plastic pollution can be harmful to humans, animals, and plants through poisonous pollutants. It can take hundreds or even thousands of years for plastic to break down thus making the environmental harm long lasting.

Its cheap production cost, easy availability, and super strength to carry even heavy products became the reason behind its vast popularity and preference among people. But nobody thought that these plastic bags would turn into one of the boiling environmental issues of our planet Earth.

Plastic Bag Free Day is a movement that began five years ago to increase awareness about the unpleasant effects of plastic bags. Its goal is to get rid of all single-use plastic bags in the world. Most of the developed, as well as developing countries, like Italy, Bangladesh, France, Africa, have imposed a ban on the usage of single-use plastic bags. India is also taking steps to become a “plastic-free” nation by 2022.

Ways to Reduce Your Plastic Consumption

As consumers, we are habitual of using plastic, be it in the form of plastic bags, cutlery, cups, or bottles. This may look like a big change at first, but once you start saying ‘NO’ to plastic, there is no going back! Follow these small steps to make a big impact on reducing plastic pollution from our beautiful planet Earth.

  • Carry Your Grocery Bag – One of the largest consumptions of plastic bags are at grocery stores. Next time you go out to buy fruits and vegetables, take a cloth or jute bag along with you. Ask your vegetable seller to put the veggies inside your bag instead of the polyethene.
  • It is Time to Recycle – We Indians are known to have a big plastic bag to store other plastic bags in it! This is a good practice to reuse them. Reuse and recycle the plastic bags that you have at home.
  • Click on ‘No Cutlery’ – While ordering online food, remember to click on the ‘don not send cutlery’ option just before you confirm your order. Most of the restaurants these days have this option. By doing this you can order with no plastic cutlery!
  • Carry Your Water Bottle – In place of buying mineral water bottles from shops, carry your water bottle from home. Be it your nearby park, shopping mall or meeting a friend – always carry your water!

As we see that plastic is man-made and so is the pollution caused by it. Therefore, the solution should also be man-made; with our little efforts, we can make our planet greener again! Be a responsible human so that all the living beings on Earth can survive happily for years to come!

Promise yourself to go plastic-free from now onwards.
