We all know reading to kids is a good thing but ever thought about why teachers and counselors ask parents to read with their kids? There are many advantages in reading to your toddlers or preschool age children. When a child is exposed to the habit of reading every day, it benefits them tremendously for a longer run in life.

Why you should read to your kids

Reading to your kids every day makes a strong relationship between you and your child. As your child grows older, s/he will be moving on to playing, running and constantly be on his or her feet to explore the surroundings. Snuggling up with a book will bring you both close to each other just like the times when you cuddled your child was a little baby. Reading proves to be a nurturing activity that brings a parent and a child close to each other.

Academic Excellence

One of the basic things that parents these days worry about is how to find a way to sharpen their child’s mind. For any toddler and preschooler, reading is one of the primary benefits they attain in general. As per the research, students who are exposed to reading at school or home, on a daily basis are more likely to do well in all facet of their schooling life. With reading, a child learns how to structure a sentence put the right words and have a better vocabulary.

Speech Skills

Your child is always learning the critical language and enunciation skills.
