Safety and Health at work

BY ADMIN PUBLISHED May 4, 2021, UPDATED January 3, 2023

Safety and Health at work is an issue of much importance as 6,300 people die because of occupational accidents or work-related diseases every day. Awareness on the magnitude of the problem and on how promoting and creating a safety and health culture can help reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries is required. Therefore, 28th April is celebrated annually as the ‘World Day for Safety and Health at Work’. The theme for 2021, keeping in mind the Covid 19 Crisis, as set by the International Labour Organization is  ‘Anticipate, prepare and respond to crises and invest now in resilient OHS  systems. It acknowledges the impact that the global COVID-19 pandemic has had on our working lives and the importance of building an effective, resilient, and adaptable WHS  framework. We have learned from past crisis that workplaces can be of vital importance to prevent and control outbreaks. Each of us is responsible for stopping deaths and injuries on the job. Adequate safety and health measures at work can play a crucial role in containing the spread of the disease, while protecting workers and society at large.
