What We Bring Back: Turning an EBSB Journey into Learning

BY ADMIN PUBLISHED October 13, 2026, UPDATED January 1, 1970

A journey may end when we return home, but its learning often begins to take shape afterwards. Having completed their Educational Experiential Learning Journey, the students are now back to school with eight days of experiences to revisit, understand and share. They have travelled through different landscapes, encountered new traditions, explored heritage and experienced many aspects of India beyond the pages of their textbooks.

At DPSG Dehradun, the next step is to bring all these experiences together. Students will return to their notes, photographs, conversations and reflections to recollect the moments that made the journey meaningful. Through the ten learning lenses, they will look at their experiences once again and discover connections between what they saw and what they already know. The journey becomes an opportunity to understand how culture, heritage, science, environment, geography, livelihoods and sustainability are not isolated subjects, but interconnected parts of everyday life.

As these reflections take shape, students will begin creating something of their own. Presentations, videos, models, visual displays and other creative projects will become platforms through which they can share what the journey taught them. Instead of simply documenting where they travelled, students will bring out the ideas and discoveries that stayed with them. Working together will make this process even more enriching. Students will exchange memories, discuss their interpretations and build upon one another’s observations. Each contribution will add another layer to the final outcome, while collaboration will encourage them to take ownership of their learning and communicate it confidently.

The culmination will also turn the students into teachers of sorts. By sharing their projects with their peers and teachers, they will give others an opportunity to see the journey through their eyes. A photograph may tell a story, a model may explain an idea, and a video may capture an experience, but together, they will show how much can be learnt when students step out and engage with the world around them.

The EBSB journey, therefore, continues well beyond the eight days of travel. It lives on in the questions students ask, the connections they make and the stories they choose to share. And perhaps that is the most valuable thing they bring back: not just memories of the places they visited, but a deeper understanding of the India they experienced.
