An Evening of Pride, Tears and Emotions - Martyr Major Mohit Sharma’s Bust Unveiling Ceremony

The atmosphere at Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Meerut Road was filled with reverence and emotion on April 15, 2023, as a bust of Major Mohit Sharma, AC, SM, a DPSG Alumni from the Batch of 1995, was unveiled. The occasion was both a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers and a celebration of the indomitable spirit of a true hero.
Major Mohit Sharma was an Indian Army Officer who gave his life in the line of duty on March 21, 2009, during a counter-terrorism operation in Kupwara district. Leading his Bravo Assault Team, he displayed unparalleled courage and selflessness. In recognition of his extraordinary bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, the highest peace-time military decoration in India. Major Mohit Sharma's legacy serves as an inspiration to all, reminding us of the immense sacrifices made by our armed forces to safeguard our nation.
The unveiling of Major Mohit Sharma's bust is a poignant tribute to his heroic deeds. It stands as a symbol of his unwavering dedication and the sacrifices he made for our country. The ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed guests, including Major Mohit Sharma's wife, Colonel Rishima Sarin Sharma, and distinguished military personnel like Lt. General PC Katoch, Major Umesh Lamba, and Lt. General Dewan Rabindranath Soni.
As the event progressed, a sense of profound respect filled the air. Each person present paid their heartfelt tributes to Major Mohit Sharma in their own unique way. The students presented a melodious rendition remembering the sacrifice of Martyr Major Mohit Sharma. The NCC cadets and band students left an impression as they welcomed the Chief Guests of the ceremony.
Colonel Rishima Sarin Sharma placed a garland of marigolds on the bust, honoring the memory of her beloved husband. The emotions ran high as tears welled up in the eyes of those in attendance.
In a touching gesture, the honorable Principal of DPSG Ghaziabad Meerut Road presented Colonel Rishima Sarin Sharma with a beautiful portrait of Major Mohit Sharma as a token of gratitude.
